Responsibilities
- Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices for Mdundo.com’s platform, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. Collaborate with frontend developers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate backend functionality into the overall system architecture.
- Data Engineering: Utilize your data engineering experience to manage and analyze data using tools like Dataiku and Google Cloud. Design and implement data pipelines, ETL processes, and data models to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives. Leverage SQL skills to query, manipulate, and visualize data for insights and decision-making.
- Infrastructure Optimization: Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to optimize the backend infrastructure of Mdundo.com’s platform. Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, and implement solutions to address them. Monitor system metrics and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth operation of backend services and systems.

The company has 26.6m monthly users across Africa, with Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Kenya being main markets, music licensed directly from +150,000 African musicians and 1.7m international songs available through licensing agreements with Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and Believe Digital. Mdundo has a focus on 5 African countries and aims to grow to 50,000,000 users before June 2025.
